The Pope’s first official document, written by his own hands, Evangelii Gaudium, has been released! This is an exciting day for those of us who love and promote the New Evangelization.
I will read it and write about it in the months ahead.
Categories: New Evangelization
I’ve just spent the morning reading it. I am enthused and excited by how easy it is to read, in language which is mostly direct and very clear, with no ambiguities. It focuses on the core message: “the personal love of God who became man, who
gave himself up for us, who is living and who
offers us his salvation and his friendship. ” and gives concrete advice,
” We all have our likes and dislikes, and perhaps at this
very moment we are angry with someone. At
least let us say to the Lord: “Lord, I am angry
with this person, with that person. I pray to you
for him and for her”. To pray for a person with
whom I am irritated is a beautiful step forward
in love,”
Francis tackles, the main stumbling blocks in our world today without flinching and. of course, he speaks in detail about being a Church for the poor. It is not without a significant philosophical section (pp 222 -264), and a prayer to Mary for us all.
The World today needs a great leader: here we have one.
John – Thanks for your comments. I am excited to read it, especially since I work at a parish as Director of Adult Evangelization and Catechesis.
A blessed moment, I hope, for all your work, Tom.
