In the past, I have written about the socks that I wear, and in my collection of socks, I have socks from Sock Religious, a Catholic company producing Saints and other Catholic-themed socks. Wearing these socks is a great way to promote the Catholic faith in the world in which you live, and even though we are social distancing and quarantining ourselves right now, at some point, this will pass. I love these socks not simply because I am a “sock guy” but because I love our Catholic faith and the Saints. Lately, when I have given a talk at a parish or school, I have worn my favorite pair – Saint Joseph.
Since we are living in such unprecedented times, the two latest pairs of socks from Sock Religious I think are good socks to own and wear – Saint Padre Pio and Divine Mercy.
Saint Pio of Pietrelcina, known to the world as Padre Pio, was a Capuchin Friar. He is known for having the Stigmata – the wounds of Jesus Christ. There is so much to say about Padre Pio, however, this isn’t the post. I would learn as much as you can about Padre Pio. He is a saint for our times. His famous saying is – “Pray, hope, and don’t worry.”
Another devotion that is good for our times, and I don’t just mean during this pandemic, but for all times, is the Devotion to the Divine Mercy given to Saint Faustina. The message of the Divine Mercy is simple – God loves all of us. He wants us to know that His mercy is greater than our sins. We need to trust him, let his mercy flow, and allow it to flow from us to others. To learn more about the Divine Mercy devotion, I would encourage you to click here.
With Easter Sunday nearly one week away, what better way to celebrate Easter Sunday but by wearing Resurrection Socks. If these were normal times, I would encourage you to wear these socks to Mass on Easter Sunday and show them off to your family and friends. But, we are not in normal times and going to Mass at our local parishes is not an option right now. However, you could still buy these socks and wear them on Easter Sunday. You could take pictures of yourself wearing them on Easter and then share the pictures on social media.
